In this tutorial I will show you how you can make unique quilled paper jewelry in just a few simple steps.
Once you know the basic steps it's fun to experiment and create pieces with multiple quilled circles like these pendants. I'm especially fond of the one with blues, yellow, brown and green because there is something about it that reminds me of the sky portion of Van Gogh's Starry Night painting.
There are so many possibilities with color combinations.....
First you will need some quilling paper.
These are from a multi-colored package of 1/8 in. wide strips.
The papers came with a quilling tool. It has a small slot to insert the paper as you begin rolling.
Roll the paper tightly and add a small dab of glue when you get to the end to hold it in place.
You can also add additional colors to create separate rings of color, or roll two pieces simultaneously to have a more blended effect.
When you are finished quilling your circle you will want to seal it.
I use a product called Diamond Glaze which works beautifully and also provides a water resistant barrier.
Paint the Diamond Glaze evenly on the front of your design, let it dry and also paint the back. Paint in slow smooth strokes to help eliminate tiny air bubbles.
Finally use a strong glue (I recommend Gorilla Glue) to attach the necklace bail or ring base of your choice.
Have fun experimenting and creating these simple but beautiful "Funky Paper Quilled Jewelry"
